Bags of Hope Project

To commemorate Amma’s 70th birthday we are taking Bags of Hope to homeless shelters in the San Jose Bay Area.

The Bags of Hope will contain various food items including fresh fruit, sauce, jam, crackers, dried fruit, and freshly made burritos, along with other donated items.

We will be packing the Bags of Hope on Saturday, September 30th, between 2:00 and 4 p.m. Delivery will take place on October 1st or 2nd.

How can you contribute?

There are several options for you to contribute to this project.

  • Donate one or more bags by purchasing online at GreenFriends Farm Bags of Hope. The Bags of Hope will be available until Thursday, September 28th at 10 pm.. The goal is to deliver 70 bags.
  • Donate food items for Bags of Hope. There will be collection bins in the Kitchen Tent on Saturdays: September 23rd and September 30th available until 2:00 p.m. on those dates. See below for sample food items.
  • Donate your time on Saturday, September 30th between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. to pack the Bags of Hope. Please come to the kitchen tent between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
  • Deliver the Bags of Hope to those in need. If you would like to help distribute the Bags of Hope, please text your contact details to Claudia at 1(818)235-6388.

Food Items to donate:

The items to donate need to be non-perishable. Examples include:

  • Loaves of Sliced Bread 
  • Jars of Peanut Butter
  • Boxes of Cereal
  • Granola Bars
  • Cartons of Milk that don’t require refrigeration 
  • Bottled Water
  • Instant Meals: Just add water, individually packed, don’t require refrigeration
  • Canned food: fruits, vegetables, legumes, soups, etc.
  • Nuts, dried fruits, cookies, and crackers
  • Sparkling Water: plain or flavored
