Bags of Hope

Bags of Hope

Friends of GreenFriends Farm harvested, collected, bagged, and personally distributed 126 “Bags of Hope” to three encampments in the Santa Clara region of California – one of them being the biggest encampment of the ‘unhoused’ in America.

Each bag included a loaf of bread, a 16oz jar of peanut butter, 2 jams, a pound of apples, a bag of dried apples and dried persimmons. All fruit products were from the farm, including the jams. Along with the bag, one of the farm’s volunteers, who often helps the less fortunate, felt inspired to make warm burritos to go with each bag.

GreenFriends did this in honor of Amma’s birthday on September 27. Amma is the inspiration for the farm and it is her desire that, “Everyone in the world should be able to eat to their fill, at least for one day, eat to their fill.” This was a wonderful way to celebrate the farm’s inspiration!

It was a joy for GreenFriends to be of service in this way, and to share the farm’s produce, dried goods, and jams with those less fortunate.
