Nature Gives – From Tree to Jar
You may have seen a few articles about the persimmons grown at GreenFriends Farm. The two varieties we grow are Fuyu and Hachiya. This year’s harvest has been excellent, leaving us with a plethora of persimmons! What to do?
Muneebah and Tapomayi from our production team decided to make two different types of jam using our persimmons.
- Persimmon Ginger Jam contains: Persimmons and Ginger with a little lemon juice. No added sugar.
- Spiced Persimmon Jam: contains Persimmon, Ginger, Clove, Cinnamon, Cardamom, 5% organic cane sugar, and lemon juice.
Over the past two weeks, the team used 229 pounds (lbs) of the soft Fuyu persimmons to make the jam. The jam will be available for sale in a week and announced in the weekly newsletter.
